    Survey finds construction companies struggle to attract and retain qualified employees

    The fourth annual Georgia Construction Outlook Survey found that 82 percent of the state’s privately held construction companies still struggle to attract and retain qualified individuals. The survey, conducted by Bennett Thrasher, one of the country’s largest full-service public accounting and consulting firms, in collaboration with Kennesaw State University’s Department of Construction Management, is produced each year to provide insight into how construction companies can remain relevant in an increasingly competitive industry.

    Industry celebrates construction management students

    Since he was a child, Cory Reeves always had a deep appreciation for the built environment. When it came to deciding on a college, the confluence of architecture, engineering and construction management degree offerings is what brought him to Kennesaw State University. Now a student in the University’s College of Architecture and Construction Management, he has ingrained himself in campus life, serving as an active member of the Undergraduate Research Club, and the National Association of Home Builders and Association of Energy Engineers student chapters. On Thursday, he became part of the latest cohort of students to receive scholarships from the Department of Construction Management’s Industrial Advisory Board.

    Kennesaw State University professor Liz Martin-Malikian has been awarded the 2018-2019 Practice and Leadership Award for demonstrating highly effective teaching, scholarship and outreach in the areas of professional practice and leadership. The award, given by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), recognizes “excellence in architecture education as demonstrated in classroom, studio and community work, or in courses offered in various educational settings.”
